Founded as a monastic school in 1905. In its daily life and in its preparation of boys for adulthood, the school strives to bring alive the motto of the Abbey, 'Insideat Coelis Animo Sed Corpore Terris' ('While keeping our feet firmly on the ground, we constantly strive to direct our mind to God'). The ethos of the school is Catholic/Monastic and this pervades every area of school life.
Built in the shadow of Mount Saint Joseph Abbey, 2.5 miles west of Rocsrea Town. Situated in open-wooded countryside with 30 acres of grounds and sports fields.
The overall objective is to produce young men of vision and principles, of leadership and of courage. This objective is partly achieved through the system of House Captain, class representatives, prefects, as well as membership of organisations and committees, and training in public speaking.
